Amazon’s Earnings Surge on Strong Online Sales and AWS Growth
Amazon delivered a robust second-quarter performance, with revenue climbing 13% year-over-year to $167.7 billion. Net income rose to $18.2 billion, or $1.68 per share, surpassing analyst expectations. The company's online store sales grew 11% to $61.49 billion, while Amazon Web Services revenue jumped 18% to $30.9 billion, fueled by rising demand for AI solutions.
"AI will change every customer experience," CEO Andy Jassy declared, highlighting the technology's role in driving innovation and operational efficiency. Amazon projects third-quarter revenue between $174 billion and $179.5 billion, exceeding Wall Street's forecast of $173.17 billion.
Despite the strong results, shares dipped 3% in after-hours trading. The stock remains up 7% year-to-date, reflecting investor confidence in Amazon's cloud and e-commerce dominance.
